Even though the prevalence of sexualization in the media is now much lesser extent, compared to what it was before, attitudes toward people with a sexualized self-presentation on social media should be considered in conjunction with cultural attitudes toward people's bodies. People's bodies are often regarded as objects for pleasure and judgment for others. Sexual objectification views a person from their body, appearance, and sexual appeal rather than the person.
In our new collection, we want to challenge the societal perception of how one can dress in a rather sensual fashion without being sexualized. We created a collection using silhouettes, fabrics, and patterns associated with lingeries - clothing that is often associated with being sexy and sensual, in a genderless and wearable day-to-day manner.
Liberté. Egalité. Sensualité. The collection is an exploration of silhouettes and fabrics, juxtaposed with surreal colours and see-through elements, trying to break off boundaries on what is considered sensual and modest. Also true to One Off Ones DNA, the pieces in the collection aren’t designed with any gender in mind; the entire collection was shot on both female and male models to reinforce the fluidity of thecollection.
