About FW21 SIMULACRA | SIMULATION Collection

ONE OFF ONES FW21 "SIMULACRA | SIMULATION" collection is based on a philosophical treatise by the sociologist Jean Baudrillard, where he seeks to examine the relationships between reality, symbols, and society, in particular the significations and symbolism of culture and media involved in constructing an understanding of shared existence.

Science categorised human beings and labels them normal or abnormal in an attempt to classify and understand them. The words sanity and insanity are the two terms that we use in modern cultural discourse to be able to describe the mental health of people. The human being can only have access to a set of cultural and scientific construction that was created in an attempt to understand reality and what people refer to as the truth is just the current temporary dominant narratives of your culture way of making sense of things.
In this postmodern society, everything about the way that people see their lives as seen through the lens of signs and symbols given to them by the media and the people around them. For the last several hundred years, these signs and symbols that were originally used to directly represent something in the real world have slowly evolved from

representing reality to then a media created multiple copies of reality up until the symbols no longer resemble anything about reality. Everything you buy and your entire consumer life in a sense is an elaborate collection of signs and symbols curated by you that depicts the kind of person you want people to think you are.

In this collection, ONE OFF ONES wants to defy what is categorised as normal/abnormal, sane/insane. Living the truth in this hyperreality world we are living in, the truth about ourselves, our individuality, our style. Ignoring the view, the social construct, and the perceptions of the world, the media, and other people about ourselves and the way we dress.
